Frequently Asked Questions

Are you covered by OHIP?

No.  Naturopathic Medicine is covered by many extended health plans.  To determine your level of coverage, contact your company’s benefits department.

What can I expect on the first visit?

The first visit is usually 1 1/2 hours long.  A full history is taken, including family history and list of surgeries and medication. A physical examination is performed.  Once a diagnosis is determined, a treatment program is formulated and implemented.

What can I expect on subsequent visits?

Second visit and follow-up consultations involve further examination and testing.  This may include orthopedic examination and the review of x-rays and test results.  Symptoms are reviewed, treatments are performed and the program is fine-tuned.

What’s the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a medical doctor?

Both naturopathic doctors and medical doctors are trained in a similar fashion.  Naturopathic doctors are unique because they adhere to the Principles of Naturopathic Medicine and use non-invasive, natural therapies and techniques.

Do you prescribe bio-identical hormones?

Our goal is to balance the hormones naturally by improving glandular function using herbs, nutrition and specific nutrients.

Do you do Allergy Testing?

We use the elimination diet followed by the introduction of specific foods to challenge the immune system.  This is the gold standard for allergy testing.
